Pure Speculation
Spinning Your Wheels
Updated: Jul 29, 2020
The Road to Success is Always Under Construction

Do you feel like you’re spinning your wheels but never moving forward? That seems to be the position most of us find ourselves in today. Grinding day in and day out in a system that attempts to provide a false feeling of safety with a side deal that anything is possible if you just hustle and find your passion. We tell ourselves the payoff for hard work will be worth it and when something goes wrong we are convinced it’s because everything happens for a reason. This is our way of staying positive when shit hits the fan. And right now, the shit is everywhere for circumstances beyond our control.
Time for a Wake Up Call
Do you still feel like the situation we find ourselves in today amid Government Shutdowns, orchestrated Economic Collapse, and Corrupt Corporate Bailouts are events that have occurred to make your personal universe better? Is all of this happening for a reason?
Or maybe there is a different perspective you can take. Maybe it's time for a wake up call. As a 35 year old who has been in business now for over 15 years, I’ve seen two large Government bailouts to assist with fragile corporations deemed “too big to fail”, with this new 2020 COVID-19 assistance exceeding what we saw in 2008. Just 12 short years later, I’ve learned one thing...we as a society have learned nothing.
"No matter how hard you work, how much sweat equity you have into what you’re attempting to create, you have to face reality. You’re in this alone."
Corporations have been able to run up debt, receive tax breaks on massive profits, jeopardize employee retirement funds and receive zero consequence for when the collector comes. Think for a moment if this rule applied to small businesses. I think we would all choose to operate much differently if we could just push forward with unlimited access to cash, attempting to dominate our field with little risk, knowing that our Government will assist with our debt should the inevitable economic recession or depression occur. We always know in the back of our heads that this is bound to happen and the entrepreneur has a responsibility to prepare for when that time comes.
The Opposite of Capitalism
What we’re experiencing now is the opposite of what Capitalism is supposed to create in a competitive market. Two sets of rules pre-determining how you will be treated and how you will operate within your business. No matter how hard you work, how much sweat equity you have into what you’re attempting to create, you have to face reality. You’re in this alone.
So why continue to spin your wheels when it feels like you keep getting pushed back to the starting line? In your head, how do you justify building your foundation of personal success with the looming threat of outside forces that can take you out of the game without any warning? The simple answer is, you don’t have a choice.
The road to success is paved with risk and it's always under construction. But you see, the big dogs have found a way to eliminate that risk by painting themselves as an organization that requires no profit to be deemed worthy of a bailout or an influx of cash to stay afloat. Their wheels are spinning just like ours but they have an ability to take the fastlane where outside forces and personal accountability are irrelevant. And this is your competition.
Can the playing field be leveled? Maybe. So what’s the solution? Considering today’s world is so unstable and unpredictable the only chance of getting ahead is to think the way corporations do and play by their set of rules. Accumulate cash by any means necessary and worry about debt later. You’ll figure out a way to make everything else work later...hopefully.
